Uses

DME has excellent combustion characteristics, high cetane number, less pollution, no damage to the atmospheric ozone layer, and is easily degraded in the troposphere. It can be widely used in automobile fuel.

DME can be used as a propellant, foaming agent, solvent, extractant, etc. for aerosols. High concentrations of DME can be used as an anesthetic.

It is also used in refrigerants as a substitute for Freon.

Methyl ethre is mainly used as a methylating agent to produce dimethyl sulfate, and can also be used to synthesize N, N-dimethylaniline, methyl acetate, acetic anhydride, ethylene dimethyl ester and ethylene; it can also be used as a refrigerant, foaming agent, solvent, leaching agent, extractant, civilian composite ethanol and a substitute for Freon aerosol, used in hair care, skin care, medicines and coatings, and as a variety of aerosol propellants.
